Claude takes a remote MCP server as a custom connector. It is five steps, and the only one that catches people is the authentication question.
Get the address
On the dashboard, create an AI connection and copy the address it shows. It already has your key in it.
https://makehybrid.com/mcp/<your key>
Add it in Claude
- Open Settings → Customize → Connectors.
- Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Give it a name you will recognise, paste the address as the remote MCP server URL, and press Continue.
- On the authentication step choose No sign in, and leave Request headers empty. Press Add.
- Back in a conversation, press + at the bottom left, choose Connectors, and switch it on.
On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner adds it once under Organization settings → Connectors, and everyone else switches it on from their own Connectors list.
In the terminal instead
Claude Code takes the same address from a command, and then has it wherever you run it — the terminal, the desktop app and the editors it plugs into. Add -s user to have it in every project rather than only this one, and /mcp lists what it can do.
claude mcp add --transport http makehybrid "https://makehybrid.com/mcp/$MH_KEY"
Check it
Ask it to list your connected LinkedIn accounts. An answer with your accounts in it means everything is wired up; “I have no such tool” means the connector is added but not switched on in that conversation, or the address was pasted short of the key.
Questions people ask
Which authentication option is right?
The key is already inside the address, so there is nothing to sign in to. When a client asks how to authenticate, the answer is the option that means none — No sign in, No authentication, None. Do not set up an OAuth client and do not add a request header.
Does the connector follow me to the phone?
A connector added in your account is yours wherever you are signed in to Claude. One added by an owner for a Team or Enterprise organization still has to be switched on once by each person.
Can a project room use it too?
Yes, and that is often the better shape for a team: the agents in a project room take the same address, so your team and the AI work in one conversation rather than in everybody's private chat.
